The Eighteenth Annual Berkeley Undergraduate Prize for Architectural Design Excellence 2016
Berkeley Prize 2016

Julian Daly and Rebecca Sherouse Bios

Julian Daly- I am a Junior at UC Berkeley, majoring in architecture with a minor in structural engineering. I am originally from Los Angeles, California. I am dedicated to both my classes as well as outside of school activities. I am very interested in the construction process and have actively participated in several design-build projects. I have a particular interest in social housing, the strengths, weaknesses and architects role in confronting poverty. I have completed research on Latin American architects solutions to poverty, but would now like to look at architects and projects closer to home.

Rebecca Sherouse- I am a senior at American University in Washington, D.C., originally from Los Angeles, California. As a student at American University in the School of International Service, I have spent the past four years gaining a better understanding of the creation and implementation of U.S. policy from both a developmental and political standpoint. My focus in Latin American studies and immigration has prompted me to look more closely at the effects of neglected policy on the underrepresented farm workers of my home state. I hope apply the policy lessons I have learned in Washington, D.C. to social issues happening in my neighborhood.
