Meghna Mohandas Bio

An architect by profession, a certain opportunity to volunteer to teach underprivileged slum kids opened my eyes to the disastrous unhygienic conditions that 70% of the population of the country lived in. Addressing this issue through my graduation thesis helped me understand the latitude and longitude of the situation better. An international essay writing competition landed me in Finland, where I was able to grasp the idea of urban planning better, at Aalto University, Helsinki. Currently working at SELCO Foundation, Bengaluru, my primary focus is on addressing various issues related to housing for the underprivileged. The multidisciplinary team at SELCO also allows me to pursue many other interests, such as development of an interactive and healthy learning environment for underprivileged primary and school children. I also hold a junior certificate in Bharathnatyam at the state level, and am trained in many classical dance forms, such as Mohinyattam and Kuchipudi.
